WE TRAIN TO KEEP TRAINING

A training community where you actually know the people

The same friendly faces most weeks, all turning up to train. We’ve been doing this
since 2023.

Most people in Chessington who join have never used kettlebells before. They learn the movements here and gradually get stronger.

We work on strength, mobility and moving well so people in Chessington can keep training consistently and stay active for years to come.

Why we use kettlebells

With just one kettlebell, you can:

1

You get stronger

You get stronger. Your bones get stronger. You move with better balance. And you’re less likely to get injured as you get older — important for people who want to stay active.

2

You move better

Training clears your head. You focus on the movement, not everything else going on. It’s good for your mind too — better than just doing yoga.

3

And you keep learning and mastering the movements over time

You build muscle while training. Your body gets more efficient. And you feel the difference in how you move every day — which is why strength training beats other fitness options.

Simple equipment. Effective training. That’s it.

Welcome toThe London Kettlebell Club

Inclusive kettlebell workouts for all fitness levels near Surbiton and Tolworth

The London Kettlebell Club started in Chessington because, as neighbours, we wanted a local place where people could train strength properly.

What began as a few of us training together gradually grew into a regular group of locals who care about staying strong.

We started small. We’re still small. Still friendly. Still the same — people helping each other get stronger and move better.

Our instructors: Jose and AlexiaWe started training with kettlebells in 2019 here in Chessington. What drew us to them was their simplicity and how effective kettlebells are for building real strength.

Adapted kettlebell training for adults in Chessington

What members say our kettlebell classes

I was in my second trimester when I started, and honestly, I wasn’t sure what I’d be able to do. But Alexia is so knowledgeable and adapted everything to suit my energy levels and growing bump. I’ve stayed active, felt supported, and I’m so grateful to have found something safe and empowering during pregnancy.

I joined because I wanted to lose weight but hated the idea of typical gyms or bootcamps. The kettlebell sessions with Jose and Alexia have been exactly what I needed — they’re challenging but never overwhelming, and I actually enjoy coming back every week. I’ve lost weight, built strength, and finally feel like I’m doing something that works long term.

I started training with Alexia to improve my functional fitness and mobility after struggling with stiffness and low energy. I love how the sessions challenge me without burning me out. It’s helped me prep for HYROX and feel more agile in everyday life.

As a man over 50, I wasn’t sure if kettlebell training was for me — but I wanted to build strength without going back to a busy gym. These small group classes in Chessington have been perfect. The pace is manageable, the coaching is excellent, and I’ve noticed huge improvements in my balance and stamina.

I’d never touched a kettlebell before, so I was worried I wouldn’t keep up. But Alexia broke everything down step-by-step and adjusted the exercises to match my level. Now I actually look forward to my workouts—and I’ve even started using heavier weights!

I love the community here! Everyone is so encouraging, and it’s not one of those intimidating gym environments. Alexia and Jose always take the time to check my form and push me just enough to feel challenged but never overwhelmed. I felt so supported that I even started doing personal training sessions with Alexia to work on my own goals — it’s honestly the best decision I’ve made for my fitness.

I love the Sunday sessions! They’re longer, so I get to focus on my technique and really challenge myself without feeling rushed. It’s like a mini fitness retreat to set me up for the week ahead. Plus, the atmosphere is so supportive. It doesn’t even feel like a workout!

Training with Jose and Alexia has been a total game-changer. I feel stronger, more energised, and actually look forward to working out every week — which never used to happen! The movements are functional, low-impact, and always varied. It’s nothing like a typical gym class — this feels more focused, more personal, and way more rewarding.

I have limited mobility and was worried this kind of training would be too much. But the classes are really joint-friendly and low-impact when they need to be. Jose and Alexia adapted everything to suit me. Now I feel stronger and more mobile than I have in years!

I’d never picked up a kettlebell before, and I was nervous about returning to exercise after pregnancy. But the atmosphere here is so welcoming and relaxed — nothing like a big gym. Every movement feels safe, low-impact, and designed to build real strength. I feel more confident, stronger, and finally back in tune with my body.

Never used kettlebells before? No worries. Most people here hadn’t when they started.

People come in nervous.

They think kettlebells are intimidating.

They think they’re too unfit.

They think everyone else knows what they’re doing. Then they start moving, focus on the weight in their hand, and realise it’s just them and the kettlebell. No judgment. No competition. Just training. Half an hour later they leave smiling, sometimes laughing, asking when the next session is.

That’s what happens most weeks. Someone arrives worried they won’t fit in or won’t be able to do it. They leave knowing they can.

The best way to know if this is for you is simply to try a session.

Come and see what it’s like!

We’ve got you covered

Still not sure if this is for you? Whether you’re from Chessington, Surbiton, Epsom, Tolworth or nearby, brand new to training, getting back into shape, hoping to lose weight or simply looking for something more fun and effective than the usual gym, Zumba, or Pilates class — you’re not alone. We hear these questions all the time! Here’s what people often ask before booking their free kettlebell trial session at The London Kettlebell Club in Chessington.

Yes, absolutely. In fact, most people who start here have never used kettlebells before. Everything is explained and demonstrated step by step, so you’re never expected to just “know what to do”. You simply start where you are and build from there.

You’re definitely not the only one. A lot of people who join us say exactly the same thing. What tends to make the difference here is the atmosphere. Sessions are small, friendly and relaxed. There’s no loud music, no mirrors and no pressure to keep up with anyone else — just people training together and gradually getting stronger.

Many people arrive with exactly those concerns. Because sessions are coached, exercises can always be adjusted when needed. The aim isn’t to push through pain, but to help you move well, build strength gradually and feel more confident in your body.

Not at all. Quite a few people join after a long break from exercise. The sessions are designed so you can start gently and build up over time. There’s no expectation to be “fit” before you arrive — that’s what training is for.

No. Most people who join are new to kettlebells and just looking for a supportive place to get stronger. Everyone starts somewhere, and beginners are always welcome.

Sessions are kept deliberately small so everyone can be coached properly. You’re not left on your own trying to figure things out — there’s always guidance and time to help you with technique.

Sessions are small and fully coached. We usually begin with a short warm-up, then work through simple strength exercises using kettlebells and bodyweight. Everything is demonstrated and explained so you always know what you’re doing.

That’s completely fine. The trial session is simply a chance to experience a class, meet the group and see how it feels. There’s no pressure — just come along and see what you think.

Of course. Many people who train with us come from nearby areas and simply travel in for the sessions each week.
